Birchbox Series: January

If you get Birchbox, or any other monthly subscription box, you already know how fun they are! But if you don’t, they’re little packages of goodies that come every month & are customized to your preferences. I really love Birchbox because there are so many products I want to try, but I don’t want to buy the full size & not like it! Hence, sample sizes! They’re just big enough to dabble in a new product before making the full commitment.

I love everything that came in my January box — exfoliating clay, highlighter, perfume, shampoo, & mascara — and I will definitely be buying the full size of some of these products! Keep reading to learn more about each sample!

bb1 face clay

Sand & Sky Australian Clay Exfoliating TreatmentI have a love-hate relatonship with face masks & exfoliators. Most of them make my face way too dry, which makes my skin look worse than before I used it. I was hesitant to try this exfoliating clay, but I’m so glad I did! It made my skin so smooth, minimized my pores, & didn’t dry it out – even the morning after! It also smells pretty good & gave my face a nice cooling sensation while I had it on. And, can we talk about the packaging?! I’m a sucker for cute branding & this definitely caught my attention!

bb1 highlite

ModelCo Baked HighlighterI currently use a roll-on highlighter, but I’ve been wanting to get a powder one – perfect timing! I was so excited when I saw this in my box & immediately had to test it out, even with zero face-makeup on! This gave my cheekbones the perfect amount of golden shimmer! I got the color “Moonshine” & it goes really well with my skin tone. Some highlighters are just too bright for olive skin, in my opinion. I’m already obsessed & I can’t wait to see how it looks when my makeup is actually done.

bb1 perfume

Lavanilla The Healthy Fragrance Vanilla Grapefruit – Vanilla is already one of my favorite scents so I might be a little biased here. This perfume smells amazing & actually lasts. I only sprayed my chest once and I could smell it for about 4 hours! If you’re sensitive to smells, this might not be right for you. BUT, I loved knowing that the scent hadn’t faded because I could still smell it. This sample came at the perfect time, too, because I’m almost out of my current perfume! #replaced

bb1 shamp

Number 4 Lumiere d’hiver Clarifying Shampoo – If you read my blog about my favorite hair care products, you know that I am very reluctant to try new things on my hair. But, I figured just one wash with a new shampoo wouldn’t hurt…right? So I gave this a try & I was impressed! This clarifying shampoo is supposed to remove product build-up with just one wash & I actually think it did. The roots of my hair — where product build-up happens — felt much softer & my hair was noticeably less frizzy. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s experiencing dull hair due to product build-up!

bb1 mascara

Beautaniq Beauty Nourishing Mascara – Two words…”NO. CLUMPS.” Well, three words because WOW! I can’t stand when my mascara goes on super clumpy & I end up taking it off to completely start over again. I have never come across a masacara that is as smooth as this one! I like for my lashes to look naturally long & this works perfectly for that! It also made my lashes look fuller because instead of clumping them together, it separated them. Warning: This is a very minimal & subtle mascara, so if you’re looking for something to make your lashes really pop — like extensions — this might not be right for you!

Stay tuned for next month’s box of goodies!
As always, don’t forget to follow & subscribe! xoxo kay
